Medical Weight Loss
A Medically Supervised Approach to Weight Loss
Losing weight is not simply a matter of willpower. For many people, factors like hormones, metabolism, genetics, and underlying health conditions make it genuinely difficult to lose weight and keep it off through diet and exercise alone. That is where medically supervised weight loss programs with GLP-1 medications can make a real difference.
At Transcend, we offer compounded Semaglutide and Tirzepatide as part of a provider-led weight loss program. These medications belong to a class called GLP-1 receptor agonists. They work by mimicking hormones your body naturally produces after eating, which helps regulate blood sugar, slow stomach emptying, and most importantly, reduce appetite.
Semaglutide was originally developed to treat Type 2 diabetes. Clinical trials revealed that patients using it were experiencing significant weight loss, and it has since become one of the most studied and prescribed weight loss medications available. Tirzepatide works on two hormonal pathways instead of one, targeting both GLP-1 and GIP receptors. Studies have shown it to be even more effective for weight loss in many patients.
Both medications are administered as a once-weekly injection. Your first injection will be completed in office to ensure proper technique and understanding. Ongoing injections may be performed at home following provider guidance, or you may choose to return to the office weekly for administration. Dosing is individualized and gradually increased by your provider to support tolerance and minimize side effects.

Who Is a Good Candidate?
These medications are generally appropriate for adults with a BMI of 30 or higher, or adults with a BMI of 27 or higher who also have a weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, or insulin resistance.
They are not appropriate for everyone. People who are pregnant or breastfeeding, those with a personal or family history of thyroid cancer or a condition called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 2, and individuals with a history of pancreatitis should not use these medications. A full health history review is done before treatment is prescribed.
During your consultation, our providers will review your medical background, discuss your weight loss history, and determine which medication and starting dose make the most sense for you. This is not a vending machine approach. You are working with a qualified provider who will monitor your progress, adjust your plan as needed, and support you throughout your journey.
Most patients begin to see noticeable weight loss results within the first 4 to 8 weeks as their dose is gradually increased. Clinical data has shown average weight loss of 9 to 15 percent of body weight over the course of a year when the medication is combined with healthy eating habits and regular physical activity.
Compounded Semaglutide and Tirzepatide help reduce appetite, regulate blood sugar, and support sustainable weight loss when combined with a healthy lifestyle and provider oversight.

What is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that helps reduce appetite, slow digestion, and regulate blood sugar. It was originally developed for Type 2 diabetes management and is now widely used for weight loss.
What is Tirzepatide and how is it different?
Tirzepatide targets both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, which are two hormones involved in appetite and blood sugar regulation. Clinical studies have shown it to produce greater weight loss on average compared to Semaglutide alone.
How is it administered?
Both medications are given as a once-weekly subcutaneous injection, typically in the abdomen. Your provider will show you exactly how to administer it at home.
Is this program supervised?
Yes. All weight loss treatment at Transcend is provider-led. Our providers will monitor your progress, adjust your plan as needed, and support you throughout your journey.
